    Begin Allied Defensive Fire Phase (Figure 1) 
    Here we are at Borodino.  Can the Russian player both fire and limber his artillery in this phase?  "That's impossible!"  Is it?  Let's look a little closer.  Note the stacks labeled A and B in Figure 1.  The Unit List Boxes for Hexes A and B are shown in Figure 2a and 2b, respectively.  Note that the horse artillery is in extended line.  This is the key.  The artillery section in Hex A has fired, while the artillery section in Hex B has not.

    End Allied Defensive Fire Phase (Figure 3) 
    Guess what?  The unfired left flank section in Hex B can now recall the right section in Hex A so that now the entire 12 SP battery is limbered in Hex B.  This is shown in Figure 3a. Further, the fired section in Hex A can also recall the section in Hex B! If both sections had fired, neither can recall the other.
